Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art

In this competition-winning design for an expansion to the Amerika-Gedenk Bibliothek, a C-shaped addition envelops the existing building. The addition adds 108,000sf to the library and completes a circuit around the original building. The new children’s library is suspended in the air, held by the circuit path and observation tower, and features a translucent envelope that reveals its lattice truss.
