World Trade Center Transit Hub Investigation

Guy Nordenson and Associates investigated the design, documentation, and construction process of the World Trade Center (WTC) Transportation Hub. To assess conformance to industry codes and standards for designating fracture critical members requiring heightened material and fabrication criteria, GNA reviewed the construction documents of several large-scale fabricated steel plate trusses, steel plate girders, and a steel plate box girder. GNA performed detailed finite element analyses to evaluate the structural behavior of the fabricated steel members and assess the validity of fracture critical designation indicated in the contract documents.
